KAC NEWS & UPDATES

The KAC’s Annual General Meeting

The KAC invites you to join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 9 September at 6:00 PM, held virtually via Zoom.

The AGM is an important moment in our calendar, offering a comprehensive review of KAC’s work over the 2024–2025 fiscal year (1 April 2024 – 31 March 2025). Together, we will reflect on the past year’s programs, services, and financial highlights, celebrating achievements while also looking ahead to the goals that will guide our immediate future.

This meeting is open to all community members. Whether you are an artist, arts worker, or supporter of Kingston’s cultural sector, your participation is valued.

We hope you’ll join us as we look back, plan forward, and connect with one another.

Join the Kingston Arts Council Board of Directors

Seeking: Chair, Treasurer, Directors

The KAC Board of Directors is seeking passionate, community-minded individuals interested in joining the KAC Board. We are currently seeking applications for both general Director positions and the Executive positions of Chair and Treasurer.  With our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan forthcoming and core projects in development — including a major overhaul of the City of Kingston Arts Fund — this is an exciting time to join the KAC team and make a strong impact in our sector!

These are flexible volunteer roles with two-year terms, renewable for a maximum total of six consecutive years. KAC’s Board plays an important role in supporting our mission and vision, offering oversight and strategic direction, and guiding the organization as it grows. Together, we care for KAC’s stability and ensure it continues to serve artists and arts organizations in meaningful ways.

How to Apply

If any of these positions sound like a good fit, please consider submitting an application.

If you’re curious and want to learn more before applying, you can reach out to Clelia Scala at [email protected]

Last Chance to View:
Cluster Being by James Greatrex

Date: 18 August - 5 September
Location: Kingston Arts Council — Unit 115, 370 King St W, Kingston

Cluster Being by James Greatrex is closing this week. This exhibition features a series of over 50 storyboard panels depicting recalled scenarios from a childhood and adulthood shaped by Cluster B personality types, narcissistic, histrionic, anti-social, and bipolar. Rendered in a simple commit format on black Bristol board, the work is part of the foundational planning for a graphic novel and film that explore topics of intergenerational trauma, religious indoctrination, as well as the pitfalls of diagnostic inflation in pharmacology and clinical psychology.

The exhibition also invites viewers into a collaborative process: each storyboard can be rated for its poignancy, provocation, or relatability, with participants credited in the final work, premiering at KCFF in 2026.

Cluster Being is both personal narrative and public conversation, an evolving work shaped by shared responses to deeply lived experiences.
