UNIT 115
Upcoming Exhibition: Colour Theory by Queen’s Black Fashion Association
Date: 6 May - 6 June
Location: Unit 115, 370 King St W, Kingston ON
Colour Theory is a striking exhibition by the Queen’s Black Fashion Association (qBFA) that explores the significance of colours in relation to identity, culture, and self-expression. Each installment of the Colour Theory series focuses on a specific hue, unpacking cultural and personal connotations through high-concept fashion editorials and artistic storytelling.
Originally created to highlight Black creativity and amplify the voices of Black students at Queen’s University, the series now extends beyond campus walls to engage the wider Kingston community. Through bold visuals and thoughtful narrative, Colour Theory invites viewers to consider the deep, multifaceted relationships between colour and identity – how we wear it, how we live in it, and how it speaks for us.
Coming to/Now in UNIT 115, this exhibition is both celebration and conversation: a vibrant space where fashion becomes language and colour becomes story, encouraging connection, reflection, and representation in the public sphere.
