KAC NEWS & UPDATES

The Kingston Arts Council’s new Membership Program invites artists, arts workers, and supporters to become non-voting members of the KAC! This community-driven initiative is designed to support, connect, and inspire Kingston’s arts sector. Whether you’re an emerging artist looking to grow your practice, an established artist seeking to engage with KAC's networks, or a passionate supporter of the arts, this program offers exclusive benefits and opportunities that help you thrive while contributing to Kingston’s creative economy.

Why Join?

Aside from supporting the work the KAC does, members can enjoy these benefits:

Membership Directory

KAC Members will be included in the new KAC Member Directory, a searchable, filterable public database showcasing local artists working in all disciplines.

The KAC Member Directory makes it easy for artists, businesses, and residents of all kinds to connect with creative professionals in the region, and offers a platform for KAC Members to showcase their work and services.

Pocket Gallery Exhibition Opportunities

The Pocket Gallery (previously known as UNIT 115) is a small gallery space in the foyer of the KAC office, located in the heart of the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, featuring monthly rotating exhibitions.

Members can apply to this paid exhibition opportunity — supported by our friends at Play! Gaming & Entertainment — to showcase work in any medium.

Stay informed through exclusive Member Communications, including quarterly updates about the KAC, the membership program, and other industry news. Plus, participate in optional polls and questionnaires to have your say in the future of the program and the KAC.

Flexible Pricing for Everyone!

While financial contributions sustain the KAC’s work, we strongly believe that access to our services should not be contingent on financial capacity. Which is why we are offering our membership at three pricing tiers:

  • Standard Membership: $40 Annually

  • Pay What You Can

  • Free

We offer these pricing options to ensure no one is excluded due to cost. If these options make membership possible for you, please take them – we’re happy to have you! If you are able to contribute financially, we encourage choosing the pay what you can or standard membership to help sustain this program and support KAC's work to provide and enhance opportunities for Kingston area artists.

UNIT 115

Date: 2 April - 30 April
Location: Unit 115, 370 King St W, Kingston ON

There’s still time to experience this powerful exploration of language, memory, and identity through the lens of contemporary Arabic calligraphy. Palestinian artist Jabra Mitwasi continues to captivate audiences with work that blends traditional scripts with abstraction, colour, and texture—creating pieces that transcend borders and speak across cultures.

Rooted in both Eastern and Western traditions, The Shape of Meaning reflects an ongoing artistic journey shaped by Mitwasi’s lived experience. Developed through recent residencies at local artist studios and the Tett Centre, the exhibition continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of calligraphy as a timeless, expressive medium.

Don’t miss the integration of augmented reality in one of the featured works, adding a digital dimension of motion, sound, and interactivity to the experience!
